Bridging the Gap: International Influence

JCK TravelsDiscovering the inspiration behind a piece of jewelry can give it a whole new meaning. For our group of talented JCK Bridge brands, inspiration comes in all forms along with a unique story. In our NEW JCK Insider series, Bridging the Gap, we've curated a place to talk bridge jewelry you're soon to shop at JCK Las Vegas. The Bridge will feature sizeable global brands with on trend costume jewelry at accessible price points. This category bridges the gap between fashion and fine jewelry and in similar respect; this series is designed to bridge the gap between a brand and their story, talk challenges, inspirations and get the inside scoop! (Knowledge is power, right?)

For this time around, we've highlighted the trending international inspirations behind some of the best baubles you'll see in person from a couple of our Bridge designers:

Charriol: http://jckinsider.com/lifestyle/bridging-gap-charriol/

Q: How would you describe your brand aesthetic as an elevator pitch?
"It's an international brand that sells fine jewelry that has fashionable and affordable products. It's feminine. It's modern. It's classic but yet in the trends. Elegant in a contemporary way. It's not fussy—it's jewelry you love to wear and forget you're wearing it. It's empowering." - Coralie Charriol-Paul, Charriol Creative Director

Chan Luu: http://jckinsider.com/bridge-brands/bridging-gap-chan-luu/

Q: Can you talk about your indigenous design techniques and how cultural elements play into your designs to create the Chan Luu style?
"Many of my designs are influenced by my travels. I love exploring craft markets and finding old world techniques and making them new and modern!" - Chan, Owner and Jewelry designer of Chan Luu

Sip N ' Sign with the Author of Stoned

STONEDAja Raden has been professional jewelry designer for over a decade. Former senior designer for Tacori, her pieces have walked the red carpet at the Oscars, Golden Globes and events too numerous to mention. Her expertise sits at the crossing of academic history, industry understanding and scientific perspective. Stoned, a work of narrative nonfiction about jewelry and the economics of desire, was released in fall of 2015 from Ecco Press and is her first published book. Stoned is a boisterous journey through the history of human desire for what is rare, and therefore precious. What makes a stone a jewel? What makes a jewel priceless? And why do we covet beautiful things? In this brilliant interpretation of how eight jewels shaped the course of history, jeweler and scientist Aja Raden tells an original and often startling story about our unshakeable addiction to beauty and the darker side of human desire.
