2017: The Year of Peridot

2017: The Year of Peridot

Though Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year was met with mixed reactions, you can’t deny that, after a year of muted, pastel colors, Greenery is a lively choice. “A fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore, and renew,” according to Pantone, Greenery is the pop of color I think many of us need as we enter the New Year. Yes, I did liken it to a certain slimy substance brought to popularity by Nickelodeon (and I stand by that), but I also think that makes it more fun, carefree, and youthful (justlike the television channel). If this color sticks, it’s great news for peridot: A gemstone that garners mixed reviews in its own right (that green just isn’t for everyone), perhaps seeing more of it—as a result of more designers embracing it—is just what the gem needs to grab the spotlight (and a place in our collective hearts and jewelry boxes). The following brands and designers already have a head start, and I very much look forward to what will undoubtedly be a renaissance for peridot in 2017.

Catching Up with Asbury Adams & Chinchar/Maloney

Catching Up with Asbury Adams & Chinchar/Maloney

As we wrap up the holiday season, it is starting to set in that JCK Tucson is only a short 4 weeks away. We are not only excited to welcome back our veterans, but also to introduce over 50 new designers to the show floor- two of whom we recently sat down with to talk about their work.

Our guest blogger, iDazzle’s Monica Stephenson recently caught up with Simone Adams of Asbury Adams, and Colin Chinchar and Marian Maloney of Chinchar/Maloney to discuss their love for jewelry and what they are most excited for as they prepare for JCK Tucson as first time exhibitors.

Going Full Circle with Michael & Catherine Jensen

Going Full Circle with Michael & Catherine Jensen

Michael and Catherine Jensen work hand in hand to create each original piece for Michael Jensen Designs. They pride themselves on doing everything from sketches to texture application completely by hand, which shows in their finished product. They have had a number of different lines, many inspired by historical sites and museums, stories, and their travels.

We are so excited to have them return to JCK Tucson this year to show us more of their strong, bold designs. We caught up with both Michael and Catherine to see what they’ve been up to since the last time we saw them.
