Meet the Designers: A Sneak Peek at JCK's Design Center
There's just something about the Design Center. Its creative energy, its friendly residents, the unexpected finds and broad range of price points. The eagerness to share and celebrate, well, design. I've made no secret my adoration for the Design Center, and I know we aren't supposed to pick favorites, but I just can't get enough year after year. And this year, you'll find so many of your favorites plus lots of fresh talent, too. From the always-anticipated row of JCK Rising Stars to a treasure trove of newcomers to the show, you'll never tire of visiting this neighborhood at JCK. I'm so excited thinking about it–I'd do better to just show you a little sampling of what's in store. If you see something you like, my advice to you would be to make an appointment ASAP –this spot is guaranteed to be positively buzzing.

Hollywood takes JCK Part II
When reflecting on the “pinch me” moments of JCK Las Vegas last year, Emmy Award-winning costume designer Patricia Field comes to mind. Attendees and exhibitors left with a multitude of takeaways from her presence. Whether it was something said in her intimate chat, things revealed from her work on Sex and the City and The Devil Wears Prada, or seeing her style models adorned with Design Center exhibitors–merging these two worlds just felt right.
There's much more where that came from this year, and it's happening every day! A new batch of A-List Hollywood costume designers will take the stage to work their magic live, style models, and accessorize with JCK's brands. What pieces spoke to them? Why?
These Insider Trend Downloads will take place at the new Showcase Stage on Bayside Level 1, June 3 - 5, 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm and will be moderated by Karen Giberson, President of the Accessories Council.

Designer Dish: Audruis Krulis and Murphy Designs
The countdown to JCK Las Vegas continues, and the excitement builds for the newly revamped Design Center! In addition to emerging jewelry designers fresh from graduate school or embarking on second careers, there are some returning designers who have achieved a certain iconic status within the design world. Monica Stephenson sat down with two of them- see what she had to say below.
I have the privilege of looking at a LOT of jewelry, many of it designed by talented designers. Once in a while, I encounter someone who is not only a tremendous craftsperson, but also has somehow transcended "jewelry as art" to a wearable form –without sacrificing an accessible appeal. Looking at the work of Audrius Krulis, I can see the foundation of his education and work as a sculptor and his skill at translating that into jewelry: The hand of the artist is so apparent in each piece of his jewelry. Krulis creates dimensional work with gemstones of exceptional character framed by organic frames of fluid metal. One look, and you’ll be as intrigued as I am. Be sure to stop by and try on his jewelry.

I find that many of the most original jewelry designers are rebels of a sort. When you choose the road less taken as a jewelry designer or maker, there is a renegade personality that goes along with that. Patrick Murphy of Murphy Design fits that description. His eclectic learning style and a lifelong fascination with nature –the sublime and the surreal –combined to make jewelry an appealing career on acres of farmland in Wisconsin. A number of years later, his pioneering approach makes us look at gemstones and form in a whole new way. But don’t worry –he’s still a rebel at heart and will have his new, remarkable pieces at the Design Center at JCK Las Vegas.

Celebrate Design All in One Night
The designer community at JCK is bountiful, talented, and dedicated to their craft –that's why we're devoting a night to celebrate them. On June 3, "An Evening of Design" will take place in the Loft, Palm Foyer on Level 3 of Mandalay Bay. Besides cocktails, yummy bites, and networking, we're awarding the Top 50 retailers and for our exhibitors, the Editors' Choice Awards. New this year, there will be one winner from each exhibiting phase (Kickstarter, Rising Star, Resident). The jury has deliberated and the results are in for the finalists in each category....
