LUXURY Privé Brings Together the Jewelry Industry's Finest for Prosperous Business in New York

Aug 01, 2016

Event will continue to thrive with the help of newly-appointed Advisory Board and move to the InterContinental Barclay New York

Norwalk, CT (August 1, 2016) — LUXURY Privé closed its 2016 show during jewelry market week in New York last Tuesday, July 26 in positive spirits. The 3-day event brought together decision-makers from elite retail stores and fine jewelry brands and designers for what many deem their favorite show. Buyers were serious about placing orders and took advantage of the many networking events on the salon floor.

From an opening day NYC-Style brunch—featuring the Waldorf's famous Bloody Mary bar and delectable brunch bites paired with live jazz music— to morning Bellini's, afternoon bourbon and scotch tastings, live painting demonstrations by Angie Crabtree, and a much buzzed about Happy Hour at the storied Bull & Bear restaurant, there were endless opportunities to take a break from order writing and network! JCK Magazine's News Director, Rob Bates kicked off the last day of the event with a keynote address on Millennials and the State of the Industry with the main takeaway being, millennials are reshaping the economy – their unique experiences are influencing the way we buy and sell luxury goods and forcing more luxury goods into the "shared economy". Retailers, returning exhibitors, and first-time exhibitors alike had high praise to share on their experience at this year's event.

Maria Frasca of Frasca Jewelers in Palm Desert, California explained, "I work with only a handful of the vendors that showed here... although I knew about most of them. I took the time to introduce myself to many of the vendors. I asked them to tell me about themselves and their lines. I was pleasantly surprised to find many new vendors with whom I can do business. I discovered new sources and opened new accounts. Due to the intimacy of the event, I was able to stand at booths without being jostled or feeling I was taking too much of the vendor's time. I enjoyed the entire experience and, of course, I always appreciate the gracious accommodations provided to me."

"LUXURY Privé delivers a show year after year that is like no other. The retailers who attend are serious, qualified, decision-makers and there's also a variety" said Susan Klemt of Artistry. Klemt continued, "We've conducted meaningful meetings with buyers we had touch points with in Vegas and were able to continue the conversation here. We also met with buyers who were not in Vegas. A lot of order writing all three days with new and existing clients and have exciting prospects; no matter which way you look at it, this show is unrivaled to any other on the calendar – it is simply the most effective use of time with lasting results."

Success was also found in the new curated designer row. Ezra Solomon, of bridal design studio Avigdor commented on his first LUXURY Privé exhibiting experience, "The most valuable piece of this show is the people who run it. The JCK and LUXURY teams are experts in their field and if you trust them, they will bring you success. The partnership is an honest and friendly business deal that is ever-evolving and always collaborative from the bottom to the top. Their guidance and matchmaking have taken me from a design studio to a business. Based off my success in the Design Center at JCK Las Vegas, I was excited to try LUXURY Privé and it exceeded all expectations. The intimate environment, paired with treats and cocktails on the floor have everyone relaxed and in positive spirits, an atmosphere conducive for business. Every retailer I spoke with was the decision maker and to get the opportunity to showcase your collections and tell your story to retailers of that quality is invaluable."

Strong buying was matched by enthusiastic interest from members of the press. Editors from major trade and consumer publications such as W, Olivia Palermo, and Elite Traveler came to review the curated selection of brands on display for fashion spreads and editorial features. Notable bloggers in attendance such as Style Me Pretty, Diamonds in the Library and Engagement 101 were excited to discover new and noteworthy pieces in a boutique environment.

The show's successful mixes of elements — upscale feel, qualified buyers, exclusive events, opulent setting will continue next year in a different location due to the Waldorf's closing. This year's event was a terrific send-off from the Waldorf and it's now time to recast the show forward in a place that is fit for the future. LUXURY Privé will continue to thrive at the InterContinental Barclay New York, a venue that is fresh, modernized, and symbolic of forward thinking. The show's success will also come with the help of its newly-appointed Advisory Board who represent the best of the best in jewelry: John Green of Lux Bond and Green, Trish Roberson of Roberson's Fine Jewelry, Jay Mednikow of Mednikow, Doug McDowell of Mémoire, Susan Klemt of Artistry, Nina Nguyen of Nina Nguyen Designs, and Tom Heyman of Oscar Heyman.

The InterContinental Barclay on New York's Lexington Avenue, situated right across from the Waldorf is a modern environment that allows the LUXURY Privé legacy to thrive – sophisticated buying experience, high-end service, and elegant surroundings pair hand in hand with this hotel's credo. This New York icon, informed by its heritage, is undeniably authentic and a product of the moment. The recent completion of a $180 million renovation displays quintessential New York charm and a new mode of luxury, focused on exceptional service standards and providing luxurious, meaningful guest culture.

"This LUXURY Privé was a special one for us all," commented Sarin Bachmann, Industry Vice President for LUXURY Privé. "My team and I are honored to have contributed in the jewelry narrative that has been prevalent at the Waldorf since the beginning and are thankful to share many memories celebrating our industry there. It was rewarding to see our LUXURY community unite together again and flourish in existing and new business, book-ending 2016 in positive spirits and optimism for the future. Our newly-appointed Advisory Board team and move to the remodeled InterContinental are just the beginning and I'm thrilled for what's to come."

LUXURY Privé will take place Sunday, July 23 – Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the InterContinental Barclay New York.
