Four Jewelry Trends That Rocked JCK This Year

Jewelry trends are typically a slow burn: Styles on display at this year’s show were just bubbling to the surface in 2023. So, pieces that might have been mini-trends last year broke through with mass appeal in 2024.

There was plenty of gold, though we heard talk of a cool down to white metals. Lab-grown versus natural diamonds still completely dominated the industry’s conversation—seemingly even more so this year. Classic engagement rings were abundant. But a number of jewelry trends piqued our interest as we meandered around the JCK show this year, and we only expect them to grow in popularity.

These are the four trends we couldn’t get enough of at this year’s JCK show.

Elongated engagement ring center stones: Marquise, oval, and pear-shape diamonds—both natural and lab-grown—were all the rage at the show, and the longer and skinnier, the better. These slender diamond cuts lend fingers a lengthened look. We noticed many in simple solitaire settings, allowing the center stone to really shine.

Stacking jewelry: The stack is back! While there was chatter about cuff bracelets being big this year, bangles swept the show in a variety of metal types, gemstones, and styles. Stacking rings—and many stack-look rings, with two or three fused together in a single piece—were also quite popular. The collectibility factor was high this year, and exhibitors were certainly giving us plenty to want to collect.

Snakes and other creatures. Snakes, dragons, and bugs—butterflies, most of all—were wildly popular on the show floor, icons that never truly go out of style but do tend to ebb and flow through the years. The pendulum for these animal friends is on the upswing, as evidenced by the menagerie of fine jewelry featuring their iconic likeness this year.

Y-shape necklaces. Lariat and lariat-look necklaces were huge this year, many in yellow gold but and in a variety of widths and chain styles. Diamond-dotted pieces reigned, featuring a line of the sparkling stones trailing down the neck on generous gold chains. Several of these pieces even boasted a snake motif, doubling up on this year’s hottest trends.
