Alexis Mazza Korb On Continuing The Family Business Her Own Way
Alexis Mazza Korb comes from a family that knows jewelry. For six generations, the Mazza family has been contributing to the industry, from its original hand-carved cameos in Italy to today’s family-owned Mazza Company offering fine jewelry with gemstones and pearls.
Continuing its legacy, Mazza Korb introduced Lex Fine Jewelry, offering her take on jewelry design with gold, diamonds, and semi-precious gemstones in modern, highly coveted styles.
We talk with the designer about legacy, style, and what the future holds for Lex Fine Jewelry.
Your family has been in the jewelry business for generations, but you're the first woman to expand upon the business and start a company in her name. What does that mean to you?
It gives me such a strong feeling of honor. Not only did I continue the family name, but I added some of my own history into the timeline, which is something I’m very proud of.
What are some lessons you've learned from your family that you carry into your own jewelry business?
The most important lessons I’ve learned are to have good customer service, always remain dedicated to yourself and your business, and enjoy the journey!
What kind of customer do you design for?
I design for the customer who enjoys the uniqueness of her pieces. She is trend-driven but follows her own path with each selection. Her sense of style depends on the situation she’s in—it could be dainty and simple or bold and edgy, girly and floral or sexy and sophisticated. Either way, I design to create happiness and inspire confidence in every woman. Therefore, I design for a very chic clientele.
Can you share some new pieces from your latest collection/offerings?
Absolutely! I’ve been working on a mabe pearl collection for a while now (which is a concept my family has used for generations that I’ve taken a slightly different approach with) and submitted the design to the JCK Jewelers’ Choice Awards.
What's in store for Lex Fine Jewelry in 2023? What are your goals for the year?
In 2023 we are reaching for so many amazing things, growth being the priority. I feel in order to grow you must build upon relationships you’ve gained and will gain to transform into something greater. In order to remain interesting to myself and my consumer I need to challenge my creativity and expand into the brand I’ve always dreamt of becoming. Yet the end goal will always remain the same—enjoy the journey and love what you do!
