Catching Up With Nina Wynn
Fans of Nina Wynn have long adored the designer and her brand for the versatile, colorful jewels she offers. With more than two decades in the industry under her belt, Nina has honed a signature style of very buildable, collectible pieces so demanded by consumers today.
We caught up with Nina to talk about her line, new offerings, a rebranding, and the future of Nina Wynn.
Tell us about the versatility of your jewelry. What makes it unique? What do customers love about it?
Our patent pending interchangeable earring line is a great example. They are hoop earrings with multiple detachable charms. These earrings come with a classic hoop design that can be worn on its own or paired with any of our various charms. The charms are designed to be easily removed from the hoop, allowing you to mix and match to your heart's content. Our customers love the versatility of it and keep coming back for more earring charms.
Do you have any new collections/releases you can share with us?
Always. I love creating new designs. Our reversible huggies are a new style I have been exploring with the trend in ear-curation and ear-styling in mind. Our huggies are like getting two for the price of one.
You recently changed the name of your brand. Can you share a little bit about that?
I started my business more than two decades ago. We were a private label design and manufacturer firm, and using my Vietnamese last name didn’t seem to be a problem. When we started to wholesale and retail in the last five years, we suspected the name could be challenging for a lot of people. We just did not have the bandwidth to go through the rebranding of our company. The slowing down of Covid gave us the opportunity to make that change. Now our company name reflects how my last name is phonetically pronounced: Wynn.
What's in store for Nina Wynn in 2023?
I am super excited about bringing back my oldie-but-goodie, the Left Hand Bangle. We used to ship these bangles by the thousands, but due to production and labor challenges, we had to discontinue the collection a few years ago. Our customers really miss them. Now they will make a triumphant return, and this time around they are bolder and better with a hinge.
The newly added hinge to the Left Hand Bangle is a game-changer. It ensures that the bangle fits perfectly on your wrist, providing you with the ultimate comfort and convenience. The hinge also makes it easy to put on and take off, eliminating the need for assistance.
One of the most striking features of the Left Hand Bangle is the materials used to craft them. These bangles are made from a variety of materials, including hammered metals, gemstones, minerals, and geodes. Each bangle is handcrafted with precision and attention to detail, ensuring that every piece is unique and stunning.
What's your biggest goal for your business in the next five years?
Instead of looking five years ahead, I like to take on three big things each year and keep working on them. Here are the three pillars of my jewelry designer life.
Innovation: My goal is to always innovate and create high-quality, precision-crafted pieces that stand out in the competitive fashion jewelry industry. With over 20 years of experience, I understand the importance of quality design and materials in attracting and retaining loyal customers. By prioritizing innovation in my designs and focusing on attention to detail, I aim to set myself apart and appeal to customers who appreciate craftsmanship. I believe that this commitment to quality and innovation will help my business thrive and grow in the coming years.
Brand awareness: I understand the importance of building my brand and increasing awareness of my products. To achieve this goal, I am focusing on targeted marketing campaigns, social media engagement, and collaborations with other brands or influencers. Recently, we launched a new, fancy website that makes it so much easier for customers to shop with us.
Expansion: I feel incredibly fortunate to have partnered with some amazing retailers, and I am always looking for ways to expand my business further. Specifically, I would love to work with more independent retailers and increase the representation of our line. By doing so, we can reach new customers and make our jewelry accessible to more people.
